Braces: Start Early or Wait?

There is no topic in dentistry that seems to generate more conflicting opinions than when and how to approach orthodontics. Is it better to wait until the baby teeth have all come out or not? Because there is as much art as there is science in the practice of orthodontics (that is, there are a lot of different techniques and protocols/and human growth is not an exact science) large studies are difficult to conduct and fail to show clear evidence. Nevertheless, there has been a big shift in recent years to early intervention (before the baby teeth come out) and I support this in many instances. My next few posts will discuss this issue.
