Smile, Be Happy

I have been a mentor for Governor’s School students for many years. My Governor’s School mentee, Chris Brown (a very talented Kecoughtan HS Senior), is presenting very interesting original research this week. His study hypothesized that bigger smiles are attached to happier people. He proved this by measuring people’s smiles and comparing those measurements with the results of “happiness” written tests. Some cultures “exercise” their smiles and actually practice laughing. There may be something to this. If you don’t like your smile, talk to your dentist. There may be some easy corrections to give you more confidence to smile.
