Swimming Pool Water Can Damage Your Teeth

Posted .

If you have been in a swimming pool a lot this summer and your teeth are sensitive or stained, you may have experienced erosion of your dental enamel (the outer layer of your teeth). Poorly maintained pool water can be very acidic and result in damage to your teeth (Dentistry Today 7/2011). Prior to swimming, make sure the pool water chemicals are properly balanced and the pH is in the proper range. Even if it is not your pool, you can bring your own test strips to verify water quality.
