There is Nothing Wrong, But My Teeth Hurt?

Posted .

Frequently we see patients who have recent dental pain with no history of any medical or dental problems. They may have even had a comprehensive dental exam in the last few months!! The first question I ask is: Have you changed brands or types toothpaste recently? Most of the time the answer is YES! Bottom line: Some toothpastes are very aggressive (e.g. Colgate Whitening Toothpaste) in cleaning teeth and for some people this will result in dental sensitivity or even significant pain. If you find yourself in this situation, immediately switch to toothpaste for sensitive teeth (e.g. Sensodyne). If you have not seen your dentist in a while, rule out dental disease first.
